Use this code block to scroll the words. Type a sentence in the hello box.

Code a song (La Cucaracha)
Work with your coding partners to create this song. Add the rest of the song if you remember it. Brainstorm another song with your coding partners and decide how you will learn the notes and code it. Look at the "beats" and notice how the beats affect how long a note is played. Discuss with your coding partners.

Code SoundAdd sound to your Codey by trying the code below. You can make your Codey say a few words. You can combine words with some of the faces/expressions available in the Looks blocks.
Conditional
With your coding partners try a conditional from the control blocks. This is kind of like cause and effect. If something happens then something else will happen. Code your sound or song to happen if something else happens first. Brainstorm with your coding partners how you can use this block with sound or music.

Create a path or maze for your Codey to Follow.

Maze & Path
Create a maze or path using a large sheet of butcher paper. You can use markers or even tape to create your line. What if you made a 3 inch dot at the end of a line? What happens?

Code
Copy the code as shown to program your Codey to avoid obstacles. You can add more code if you want; for example you can add another button to make everything stop when pressed. Or you can add lights

Code
Follow the code below to have Codey identify the color.
With your coding partners think of ways to include other kinds of code actions like sound or movement. Could you make a challenge for another group? Try it out.
Discuss with other groups their color identification projects. See if you can brainstorm other actions that are triggered by color. |
|
Watch the Video. Then discuss with your coding partners how this type of robot could be used in your city. How can you model your idea with Codey? Could you use this idea at a school? After you and your coding partners have created a plan or idea, share it with another group or create a short presentation and share with the class.

Collect DataTry several cities and make a graph or chart of the high and low temperatures in each and compare them. Discuss with your coding partners. Compare and make predictions with the other groups.

Follow the code below. The first Codey will message the second Codey. When A is pressed Codey will send the message Hi and the second Codey will show the Circle eyes. When B is pressed one Codey will say Bye and the other will show the Sad eyes. Give it a try.

Extended Activity - How can you create a program for Codey to help people with a disability communicate with each other? Think about the different kinds of disabilities people can have. Brainstorm with your coding partner and come up with a way for the Codey to help with communication. Then explain by demonstrating how your code works and how it will help people with different needs.

Using the skills you learned in the last activity, code one Codey to control the movement of another Codey. Can you code other actions like sound? Can you use buttons and tilt to control actions? Find out. You will code 2 Codey Rockies. One as the remote to control another Codey.
Use these examples to modify the show image block to create the animated rocket.
After you create the flying rocket, what other animations can you create?
* Person doing Jumping Jacks... * Bird flying.... * Bicycle moving... * Pacman... * Cannon Ball Shooting... |

Dice
Left Center Right Game
Below are the Rules for the Left Center Right. You may have to modify the rules to work with your Codey version. Have Fun.
Challenge:Create another game with Chess Pieces using the same idea. Each chess piece has a point value. See the chart below. You can make your King a zero or a minus if you want or whatever number. You can you create a game that randomly picks a chess piece as you play against another person? You will need to create your chess piece on the screen using the show image block. Good luck.

Using the same coding skills as in the Dice and Rock Paper Scissor activities, Create a LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT GAME. Follow the code below. To play the game you will need coins. Use pennies or if you have a 3D printer, print coins.
